The GASCA 2023 International Music Competition will take place on 24th-25 December 2024 in Japan's Tokyo Ushigome-Tansu Center . 

The Competition is open to musicians of all nationalities.

All applications must be submitted online via GASCA official website, For group applications, please email info@gasca.org for more information.

Scoring criteria:


The judge will give the scores based on the following criteria:

Technique (25%)

-Technical requirements to complete the repertoire

-Control the instrument effectively

-Intonation is well handled, notes are in tune

Musical sense (25%)

-The sense of rhythm is adequate, the tempo is appropriate and stable

-Awareness and mastery of the hierarchy and overall sense of music

-Achieve effective blending, contrast, and balance

Personal Style (25%)

-Personal style, rich performance

-Unique and special , stand out from the peer

-Clearly and vividly reflect the characteristics and style of the performer

Charm of Performance (25%)

-Full performance and emotional engagement from start to finish

-The music is persuasive, highlighting the emotions of the performer

-Performance awareness and control ability on the stage

-The expression of emotion in the performance, which touches the audience through overall performance

Awards for preliminary round



The preliminary round will be conducted via video submission. 
Participants need to upload their performance videos, and the judges will evaluate their qualifications for the finals within 3 working days.

There are only two award levels in this preliminary round: 
1. Distinction Award (80 points or above) and 2. Outstanding Award (79 points or below).

Distinction Award (80 points or above) : will qualify for the finals.
Outstanding Award (79 points or below): will not advance to the finals.

The results will be notified to the contestants via email 3 working days after the submission is uploaded. 
Contestants who qualify for the finals must complete the finals registration process and pay the finals entry fee before 31 July 2024.

Contestants who advance to the finals must be able to attend the competition in person at the venue Ushigome-Tansu Center in Shinjuku Japan on December 24-25, 2024.

* Participants are not restricted to any nationality, the cost of traveling to Tokyo Japan must be borne by the participants at their own expense*

GASCA Grand Prize 
USD300; Grand Prize will be awarded to the highest score in the entire competition. The award will be present in Mastercard® prepaid card format. 
GASCA First Prize 
USD200; First Prize will be awarded to the second highest score in the entire competition. The award will be present in Mastercard® prepaid card format. 
GASCA Second Prize 
USD100; First Prize will be awarded to the second highest score in the entire competition. The award will be present in Mastercard® prepaid card format. 
Champion
1st Runner up 
2nd Runner up
Will be awarded to the top 3 score contestants in each age category. There will be one Champion, one 1st Runner up and one second runner up in each age category.
 
Distinction Award 
Will be awarded to contestants who score top 40% in each age category.
Outstanding Award
Will be awarded to contestants who score next 30% in each age category.
Participation Certificate: 
The rest will be presented with participation certificate, who are at the early stage of their musical journey but deserve recognition and encouragement for their skills and persistence to excel in the future.
 
International Music Instructor Award:
Awarded to the instructors whose student won the championship, first runner-up, second runner-up, distinction award and outstanding award; the instructor will receive an e-certificate via email and may upgrade to apply for the hard copy (paper) official certificate and the trophy.
  
International Instructor Award for Active Participation (Gold Award): 
USD 140 Cash Prize, Instructors who invite ten students to participate in the prelimary round will receive an e-certificate, eligible to apply in the hard copy (paper) official certificate and the medal ; together with “GASCA Premium Educator (MUSIC section)” on GASCA official website [with 3 months’ duration for information about the instructor for more social recognition].
 
International Instructor Award for Active Participation (Silver Award): 
USD 70 Cash Prize, Instructors who invite five students to participate in this prelimary round will receive an e-certificate, eligible to apply for the hard copy (paper) official certificate and the medal; together with “GASCA Premium Educator (MUSIC section)” on GASCA official website [with 1 month’s duration for information about the instructor for more social recognition].
  
International Outstanding Education Award:
The school/education center invites ten or more students to participate in this competition and will receive an e-certificate and be eligible to apply for the hard copy (paper) official certificate and the medal. (the school/education center needs to submit the award application form).


  • All winners will receive an e-certificate via email and all Champion will receive trophy and a printed certificate in the award ceremony. All contestants win the 1st runner up, 2nd runner up, Distinction and Outstanding award will receive a pen and a printed certificate in the award ceremony.
  • Each participant will receive a scoresheet and comments from our professional judges, the scoresheet with comments will be sent to the registered email 2 weeks after the competition. 
  • All prizes will be awarded unless the Jury unanimously decides not to award one or more of the prizes.
  • In case of a tie, the Jury may decide to split a prize between two competitors.
  • All decisions of the Jury shall be final and cannot be appealed.
  • If contestants do not show up in the award ceremony, they can apply to ship the certificate and trophy/medal to their address, Shipping fee would be charged separately according to the local postal fee in Japan [JPY850(tax included)] or international postal fee [JPY2,500(tax included)].
  • It is highly advised that participants shall consider the production time required before applying for any of the above extra services.
  • Participants must fill in the name, email and phone number of the tutor/institution/school or education center for confirmation when registering; the name of the tutor/institution/school or education center will not be added after the results are announced.

GASCA collects appropriate personal information, making explicit its intended use while gathering only necessary content.


Use of Information

The personal information collected is used only for purposes made explicit in advance. Unless it is specified by law or the Personal Information Protection Regulation, information will not be shared with third parties beyond its stated purpose without the individual’s consent.


Protection of Personal Information

The personal information collected is thoroughly protected so as to avoid leak, loss or manipulation. Also, personal information that is deemed no longer necessary will be promptly disposed of.


Employee Monitoring

Employees are monitored appropriately in order to guarantee protection of personal information.


Disclosure of Personal Information

Concerning personal data held by GASCA, individuals can request notification or other disclosure regarding its intended use, and staff will respond promptly.


Insurance:

Whether or not insurance is purchased on the occasion of participating in the competition is entirely the responsibility of the participants. This applies to health and injury insurance, as well as loss or damage to the instrument or to luggage, in case of accident, fire, or theft during travel.


Judgment:

Judgment of the Competition will be made by the jury commissioned by the event organizer in accordance with the scoring criteria.

Any decision of the jury shall be final and without appeal.

The event organizer reserves the right of final interpretation of the general rules and regulations of the competition.

If there is any dispute about this event, the organizer's ruling shall be the final ruling, and no one may object. In case of any discrepancy between the meanings of any translated versions, the English language version shall prevail.

Our jury panel comprises of internationally renowned concert artists, professional musicians, experienced university professors, and music examiners from prestigious musical institutions and examination boards. Each finalist will get the scoresheet and feedback from each judge.
