Artistic Foundations

Born in 1959 in Los Angeles, California, Lucas embarked on his artistic journey at the McCrady Art School in New Orleans, where he honed his skills in life drawing and oil painting from 1979 to 1990. His education continued at Ventura College in California, where he studied painting and printmaking. Under the mentorship of abstract painter Wesley E. Johnson, Lucas's focus shifted toward abstract expressionism, unlocking his true artistic vision.

A New Dimension

In 1998, Lucas's career took an exciting turn as major motion picture studios and national television networks began featuring his art. His works graced the sets of iconic TV shows like “Will and Grace” and “Friends,” as well as films such as “Bounce” and “Showtime.” This exposure not only broadened his audience but also solidified his place in contemporary fine art.
